Sarbanes-Oxley Compliance is a mandatory initiative for public Fortune 1000 companies that will never stop changing. Today, however, it is the economy that is shifting and Enterprise Risk Management programs, with SOX at the center, must shift with it. There has never been more incentive for fraud to occur so companies must set up their risk prevention efforts while at the same time streamlining processes through the reassessment of key controls as per AS5 guidance, and automation of the monitors to facilitate a much-needed cost savings approach. The Internal Audit department and business process leaders must work closely with IT Audit to ensure that the company’s IT system is strong enough on the front lines to prevent fraud from occurring and feeding into the overcrowded monitors.
