Earlier this week I stumbled across some research carried out in 2009 (“The Intelligent Enterprise” Economic Intelligence Unit), which showed, how the speed of business decision making is accelerating and becoming more centralized as senior management take charge of their organization’s destiny in the face of mounting economic pressure.
Regulators are also demanding information more quickly, apparently driven by a similar need to understand market conditions and how businesses are responding. But it prompts me to question just how well we are coping with accelerated reporting. For example, how many organizations actually develop internal measures against which they can benchmark the performance of the Record to Report cycle? Have you set any internal benchmarks and how well are they working?
