Several Trintechers from our corporate headquarters in Dallas spent a morning volunteering in Plano at My Possibilities, a non-profit continued education program for adults with cognitive disabilities.

Founded by three mothers who wanted to provide a promising future for their children, My Possibilities serves more than 400 “HIPsters” (Hugely Important People, as the students are called) each week.

Trintechers got the opportunity to work hand-in-hand with the HIPsters and the instructors at the school, learning about the importance of inclusion and continued education. Whether it was working in the arts room, the gym or helping out in one of the program’s vocational skills-focused courses, Trintechers got an inside look at the day-to-day operations of My Possibilities – and made some new friends, too.

The community service day was organized by Molly Smith, Trintech’s Director of Customer Success Operations who has previously worked with My Possibilities on their Events Team.

“I have a saying on my desk ‘If serving is beneath you, then leadership is beyond you,’” Smith said. “Taking that to heart, I was looking for a place to serve, when I came across My Possibilities in a chance encounter with their founder, Charmaine Solomon.  After meeting with Charmaine, I found a place on their Events Team, but also an outlet for Trintechers to serve in the community.”

Smith said she is looking forward to the opportunity to return to My Possibilities with more Trintechers eager to serve the community.

“My Possibilities gave us several options for a ‘Day of Impact’ for Trintech,” Smith said. “The group that attended wanted to work with the HIPsters during their diversity and inclusion lesson.  Working alongside and getting to know the HIPsters was a very special experience.  These men and women were fun, spirited, friendly, but most importantly, just want to be known.  I made a lot of new friends during my time at My Possibilities and I can’t wait to go back.  I’m so grateful to work for a company that places a priority on serving in the community.”

Trintech views community service as incredibly important, reinforcing this belief by giving its employees 2 days of paid “time off” to volunteer.
