IWD2020: Mahsa Jahed Mogharrab

Blog post

Mahsa Jahed is Trintech’s Senior Account Manager for the EMEA Mid-Market team. She is based out of our London office and has been with us for almost 2 years. We sat down with her for International Women’s Day to ask about her experiences as a woman in business and technology.

What does innovation mean to you and how do you exhibit it in your daily life?
Innovation is about reframing challenges as opportunities. Within organizations, we all face roadblocks and challenges that have increased to a point of frustration. It’s easy to stop trying in these moments, and change focus by quitting. Every time I face one of these challenges I try to think outside of the box and create a new solution.

How do you leverage your perspective as a woman in the tech industry?
I believe in what I do, and I am persistent and hard-working. The tech industry is well dominated by men; however, there are still very successful women who have achieved fantastic results by being powerful, confident and open-minded. They are also not intimidated by the male-dominated market. Our CEO, Teresa, is a living example of this.

How have generations of women in your family before you impacted the work you do in your job and/or your community?
My mother and grandmother both were very charismatic people, always striving and aiming to follow their dreams. Given the discrimination between men and women in Iran, they always encouraged me to stay positive and be ambitious to a point that I was brave enough to immigrate to the UK and build everything from scratch.

Do you identify with any particular woman in history?
Marie Curie. She made a huge difference in the world and proved that women can be indispensable as much as men can be and change the world. She conducted pioneering research on radioactivity. She was the first woman to win a Nobel Prize, the first person and the only woman to win the Nobel prize twice, and the only person to win the Nobel Prize in two different scientific fields. She is remarkable!

Thank you, Mahsa, for being an inspiration to women everywhere. Congratulations on being the top seller for FY2020!
