Nicole Davis is the Senior Manager, HR Information Systems at Trintech. For Women’s History Month, we asked Nicole a few questions about her commitment to helping forge a gender equal world and support the women around her.

What does innovation mean to you and how do you exhibit it in your daily life?
To me, innovation is a combination of thinking outside of the box to create new ideas and processes and transform them into practical positive solutions. It is also having the ability to influence effective change within the business.

From an HR aspect, it is taking a deep dive into our core processes and implementing best practices that will best position our company for opportunities to scale, increase productivity, and create a great internal customer experience.

For example, as a HR Technology professional I am constantly seeking ways to automate our departmental processes and collaborate cross-functionally with other departments to integrate systems that will allow for a decrease in completing tasks manually.

How have generations of women in your family before you impacted the work you do in your job and/or your community? My mother instilled the “can do” attitude within me at a very young age. I saw firsthand how determination coupled with sacrifices can have a profound impact on your life. As a high school student, I was selected to compete in an international track meet in Belgium. My mother and community rallied around me to create the opportunity for me experience this once in a lifetime event. I am eternally grateful for this experience, which is one of the many reasons why I strive to maintain an attitude of gratitude. As a direct result, I have adapted to a strong sense of teamwork and unity.

How will you help forge a gender equal world?
It is extremely important to foster an environment where other women can share opportunities and are encouraged to pull one another up as they rise through the ranks instead of knocking each other down. I will be a bridge builder versus seeing other women as competition in the workplace which is a very damaging perception.  It is also critically important to connect women to other opportunities that they are well-suited for and encourage them to pursue those opportunities.

How do you plan to support IWD 2021 campaign theme: #ChooseToChallenge?
I will support IWD2021 #ChooseToChallenge campaign by making a donation to an IWD Charity, specifically World Associate of Girls Guides & Girl Scouts (WAGGGS). This is the largest international youth movement dedicated to girls and young women, supporting over 10 million girls across 150 countries and is an IWD Charity of Choice since 2007.
