Meet Kelli Shoevlin

Kelli is the Public Relations Manager at Trintech and has been with the company for six years. Kelli currently resides in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area and enjoys travelling and spending time outdoors.

Mike: Congratulations on being selected for the Trintecher Spotlight for September!

Kelli: Thank you! I’m usually the one conducting the interviews with our customers, so it’s a little strange being on this side of the interview.

Mike: Let’s start with a few easy questions. What is the most memorable trip that you have taken?

Kelli: I would have to say Italy. I travelled there in 2018 and was there for about two weeks. I flew into Milan, and we visited Florence, Rome, the Amalfi Coast, and ended in Lake Como. Overall, it was an incredible experience filled with amazing food and a lot of great wine.

Mike: What an amazing trip! Where do you want to head next?

Kelli: Honestly, anywhere at this point since we couldn’t travel this past year! But seriously, I would love to go to Southeast Asia—Thailand, the Philippines, Vietnam—I think that would be an amazing experience.

Mike: That sounds fantastic. Outside of travelling, what else are you interested in?

Kelli: I am a member of an organization called The Young Texans of the American Cancer Society that is focused on increasing cancer awareness among young professionals in the DFW area. Each year, we raise hundreds of thousands of dollars with a single goal of giving back to local beneficiaries. These funds are raised through various efforts, including our signature events, membership activities, donors, and corporate sponsors. On October 14th, we have our 13th annual BubblyQ event, which Trintech is actually sponsoring. This event will benefit our 2021 local beneficiaries, the Gene and Jerry Jones Family Hope Lodge and the Wig Coupon Program. I encourage anyone who is interested to check it out to see how they can get involved.

Mike: Well done for finding a cause that you’re so passionate about. So, you joined the Trintech team right after graduating from the University of Arkansas. What would you say is the best part of working at Trintech?

Kelli: First and foremost, the people. I’ve said this since the first day I started – Trintech has a great culture, and that culture is very much influenced by the people that work here. The second would be the endless opportunities to grow. For me personally, when I first started, I was a recent graduate coming out of college and not exactly sure what I wanted to do from a career-perspective. I was lucky enough to start out at a company that has given me the opportunity to explore not only several areas within my own department but also the opportunity to work cross-functionally to understand the business as a whole which has been hugely valuable. Trintech truly invests in its employees’ personal and professional development and provides extensive opportunities to get that exposure and experience that wouldn’t necessarily be available in a larger corporation.

Mike: The exposure to different areas of the business can be invaluable to someone just entering the workforce. Now that you’ve been here going on six years, what changes have you seen in the industry?

Kelli: The tech industry is one of the most, if not the most, rapidly growing industries in the world. I think that is one of the main reasons why I love working for a software company – everything is constantly changing and having the opportunity to be involved in the innovation and growth within the industry is exciting. When I first joined Trintech in 2015, our Record to Report platform, Cadency, had only been in the market for a few years and had fairly standard automation capabilities. Fast forward to today and we are now leveraging leading technologies like Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in our solutions that can perform historical and predictive analysis reducing financial risk from multiple angles, which is truly remarkable.

Mike: It’s always exciting to hear about the ongoing innovations within our solutions. Speaking of those innovations, the Trintech Connect Virtual User Conference is right around the corner, and I know a big part of that event is showing customers the new features and capabilities within our solutions – Can you talk through what our customers can expect from this event?

Kelli: Absolutely! We are excited to be hosting our 2nd annual Trintech Connect Virtual User Conference in October! This event gives our customers the ability to collaborate and network, not just with other customers, but also with our extensive partner network, as well as our Trintech subject matter experts. Each one of our customers has a unique perspective and story that is valuable to their peers, and this event is a great format to share those best practices, discuss industry trends, and maximize their investment in our solutions.

Mike: I can’t wait for October. Outside of Trintech Connect, what other exciting events can our customers look forward to?

Kelli: Trintech Connect actually consists of multiple events so we are excited to bring back our in-person, Executive Customer Alliance events happening in Chicago May 9th – 11th, 2022 and Berlin June 14th – 16th, 2022!

Mike: As we finish up, what advice would you give your younger self?

Kelli: I think the biggest piece of advice would be not to judge yourself in comparison to others. Judge yourself against what you know you are capable of. It’s easy to get caught up comparing yourself to your peers, but the focus should be on what you know you can do and whether or not you’ve given it your best effort. That should be your true measurement of success.

Mike: Excellent advice. Kelli, thank you so much for speaking with me today.

Kelli: You’re welcome!
