IWD2020 Spotlight: Molly Smith

Blog post

Molly Smith is our Vice President of Customer Success. She is based in our Dallas office and has been with us for 21 years. We asked her a few questions in honor of International Women’s Day.

What does innovation mean to you and how do you exhibit it in your daily life?
Over the last several months, I’ve been all about innovation in personal productivity practices.  Like a lot of women, I’m busy with my career and building a side hustle, so I’m always looking for ways to add productivity to my day. I’ve found that starting my day with intention and having a solid morning routine sets me up for success, no matter what’s on the schedule.  It’s so important for women to start the day filling our heads with positivity and inspiration, instead of mentally running the barrage of tasks to get done during the day.

How do you leverage your perspective as a woman in the tech industry?
I’ve worked in technology for twenty years and the one thing I can attest to is the rapid pace of change.  As a working mom raising teenagers, I’m juggling multiple priorities, but there is always something that comes up that you need to throw into the mix.  Being in a growing company like Trintech is no different—nailing down key processes and routines creates bandwidth to take on the unexpected when it arises.

How have generations of women in your family before you impacted the work you do in your job and/or your community?
My mom has been a tremendous role model in this area.  She worked outside the home growing up, both out of necessity and because of how she’s wired. I saw through her example that you can have a career and family – there is of course a trade off as you build both, but it can be done successfully.

Who are the influential women in your life?
There are so many! In the last year, the woman who has had the most profound influence on my life is a gal named Thea Wood.  She founded a movement called Kick Fear in The Face.  Fear was keeping me inside my comfort zone and distanced from becoming the best version of myself.  Thea’s influence helped reframe my mindset and influenced how I show up in my life.  Other women like Oprah Winfrey, who reminds us to put ourselves on the “list” of things to take care of, and Brene Brown, who blazed a movement around being vulnerable, have also greatly influenced who I am today.

Thank you, Molly, for bringing positivity and progress to our office every single day!
