About Condado Tacos
Opening their first location in Columbus, Ohio in 2014, Condado Tacos specialize in build-your-own tacos, served alongside unique queso, guacamole and margaritas creations. They pride themselves on fresh, high-quality ingredients, as well as salsas, toppings, proteins and tortilla chips that are all made from scratch daily. The brand currently has 25+ stores across the United States and has an aggressive growth plan in place over the next several years.
Business Drivers to Automate
“We were opening almost 8-10 stores a year and when we hit double digits, I was still the only person handling our account reconciliation process for all the stores,” said Zack Mehan, Financial Analyst at Condado Tacos. “We are rapidly growing, and we knew we weren’t going to be able to keep up with that growth with the same manual process in place.”
As they continued to scale the business, the overall process became very time-consuming with a lot of room for human error. “We didn’t like the liability of managing everything in Excel,” continued Mehan. “If our Controller wanted to review the work that was done, he would have to access almost 20 different Excel workbooks which was not an efficient use of his time.”
Why Adra® by Trintech?
When Condado Tacos came to the conclusion to either hire an additional headcount or explore automation, they chose to look into how automation could solve the challenges they were facing. In 2019, Condado Tacos decided to implement both Adra Matcher and Balancer to automate their high-volume transactions and balance sheet reconciliation process.
Today, Condado Tacos is currently managing all cash accounts within Matcher and tracks cash over short daily which has been a huge time savings. “We have a ton of cash-heavy stores and that process was a huge hassle for us to manually track so having Adra to automate that process has been a significant win for us,” said Mehan.
Condado Tacos manages all balance sheet reconciliations within Balancer and have been able to assign risk ratings on certain accounts to only reconcile quarterly or yearly. “One of my favorite features is the ability to attach files within Balancer to show a complete audit trail for our leadership team or auditors,” continued Mehan.
Condado Tacos has experienced several benefits since implementing Adra. “Our overall process has sped up considerably which has allowed us to spend more time on analyzing the data,” said Mehan.
Looking ahead, Condado Tacos has aggressive plans to continue to scale the business. “Like I mentioned earlier, we are rapidly growing, and we aren’t even thinking about needing to expand our team because we have seen that Adra can scale with our business,” continued Mehan. In addition, Condado Tacos is also looking to leverage multi-way transaction matching with Adra Matcher to help manage the increase they have seen in 3rd-party delivery services since the pandemic.
