Trintecher Spotlight – Sam King

Blog post

Meet Sam King

Sam is a Sr. Product Owner for our Large Enterprise Product Management team and has been with Trintech for four years. Sam currently resides in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area and enjoys reading, embroidery, and going to see live musicals.

Mike: Congratulations on being selected for the Trintecher Spotlight for June!

Sam: Thank you, I’m very honored.

Mike: Let’s start with a few easy questions. What is the most memorable trip that you have taken?

Sam: I would say Hawaii and New Orleans. Growing up I had the opportunity to visit Hawaii on multiple occasions and loved it each time. I got to go to New Orleans for my 21st birthday and just had a blast.

Mike: That sounds fantastic. So, you joined the Trintech team right after graduating from Texas A&M University. What would you say is the best part of working at Trintech?

Sam: The collaboration and teamwork with our customers. My position allows me to work with our customers to help drive the direction of our products. I then get to translate that feedback from the business side to the technical side and work with our developers to figure out how we can incorporate a feature or improve a process to help meet our customers’ needs.

Mike: I know our customers appreciate when they feel like they are being heard. What changes have you seen in our industry since you joined Trintech?

Sam: In the last couple of years there has been a shift to a focus on automation. We’re moving beyond standardization and into avenues where automation can help customers do more with less. It’s very exciting to see how Cadency, and now CadencyDirect, help our customers explore these spaces and truly accomplish more and more with automation.

Mike: In line with the shift towards automation and workflows, Trintech has recently partnered with ServiceNow to release CadencyDirect on the Now platform. What can our customers expect from this new offering?

Sam: This is a really exciting partnership and something I’m excited to be a part of and to help bring to our customers. I would say there are a few things our customers should really be looking forward to. First, the additional visibility within the ServiceNow platform that we’re providing by bringing in the Cadency data that our customers already know and love, and our future customers will come to see as really powerful. Second, the new potential for workflows. ServiceNow is a huge workflow management tool, and the Office of Finance doesn’t exist on an island; it extends and interacts with teams and individuals across an organization and various functional areas. So, what we’re excited about with ServiceNow and CadencyDirect is giving our customers a way to easily manage those workflows that extend beyond the Office of Finance and to do so in a way that’s going to be efficient and reduce risk.

In addition, we can now provide a centralized platform for the CFO that wants a 30,000 ft. view of the current position as it relates to the entire operation: Tax, Treasury, Consolidation. The CFO can get that broader view now with CadencyDirect and ServiceNow.

Mike: In addition to the Office of Finance, where else do you see CadencyDirect making an impact?

Sam: Definitely the Office of IT. ServiceNow is something that is well-renowned and loved by the Office of IT, so the option for our customers, and our prospects, to bring Finance into the digitization efforts that are already underway at a lot of companies through the Office of IT, is really exciting.

Mike: As we finish up, what advice would you give your younger self?

Sam: I try to approach everything with a positive attitude and not hold on to things that have happened in the past. Oh, and wash your face.

Mike: Excellent advice. Sam, thank you so much for speaking with me today.

Sam: You’re welcome! This was fun.
